Exercise routines cover many aspects of fitness such as Cardio ; Balance ; Strength and Flexibility.

We need to exercise our hearts (Cardio) by pushing it beyond our normal heart rate at rest to help strengthen the heart muscle. We also need to improve our balance and our flexibility, which in turn also helps strengthen our 'Core' muscles and reduce problems such as backache.

Exercise is important for all age groups and all abilities.

Not all of us need or want to attend a gymnasium to develop bulging muscles and a six pack, some just need more gentle exercise to help lose weight, or to improve our heart rate, breathing, stability or ability to walk or move around.

Sometimes our situation restricts how we can exercise, for example being homebound or being financially unable to afford gymnasium fees through unemployment.

Woo-Fit understands these restrictions, and tries to show options available for you at home, without purchasing expensive equipment or paying extortionate membership fees.

Our resident Fitness Instructor Hannah has put together some exercises that you can do at home, in your chair, bed or on the floor.  Simple routines you can do while sitting watching the television, or perhaps can do with friends or family.

We also show alternatives to gymnasium equipment that you may already have available.

IMPORTANT

Before commencing any exercise routine at home or at a gymnasium, it is recommended to be assessed by a qualified instructor using a 'ParQ' questionairre, this will highlight any issues that need to be discussed with your doctor prior to exercising.

Cambrian Mountain Events based in Llanidloes are a non-political, non-profit, self-funded, independent organisation run by local volunteers to promote Llanidloes, the Cambrian Mountains and the surrounding areas in mid Wales.

Their events are great for more advanced fitness.

FITNESS AT HOME

Professional exercise equipment can cost a small fortune to buy.

Cheaper versions or suitable alternatives are often available online or in local stores.

Why waste hundreds of pounds on equipment when you can use what you already have or can make your own !

The hardest part of exercise is the maintaining of motivation.

You are far more likely to continue if you have support to do it.

So why not team up with a friend or two, then during the week alternate holding 'Coffee Exercise' mornings, exercise together and gain extra benefit from the social aspect too.

You could always take it a step further and really make a difference, use your small coffee mornings as a way to help one of your local local charities such as those below.
