JANIE MITCHELL

Janie Mitchell is a singer and songwriter from Shropshire, England. She plays guitar, hammered dulcimer and harmonium. The hallmark of her music is her voice: mellifluous, heartfelt. Her songs show a poetic sensibility, in-keeping with the Romantic tradition; evoking images of the rural English landscape and the yearning soul wandering within it.
With duo 'Beguildy', Janie set the poems of Edwardian writer Mary Webb. She has performed as a duo with Benji Kirkpatrick (Bellowhead, Faustus), co-writing the title track of the album (with The Excess) "Gold Has Worn Away". Her current work is a collection of songs about wildflowers and features in the BBC Radio 4 series "The Last Songs of Gaia".
