TRUCK SIMULATORS

The various Truck Driving Simulators available enable the user to drive various varieties and combinations of trucks along virtual roadways, making deliveries working as a 'hired' driver until enough money has been made to purchase a first truck and trailer, these are fully customisable both inside and out, allowing you to change engines, transmissions, axles, paintwork and interior trim. As you accrue funds you can purchase your own garage, buy further vehicles and employ additional staff.

The simulators make use of Artificial Intelligence to populate the roads with other vehicles, and the programs follow the actual rules of the roads dependent on on which Country or State they operate in. Fines are issued if you speed or cause accidents, vehicles require regular maintenance and refuelling.

On the road you are subject to vehicle inspections, weight checks, and with ETS 2 passing through customs and tolls, crossing the channel via ferry boat or by train through the channel tunnel.

The base program is purchased, then additional maps can be purchased after to expand the game further.

They can be operated with a keyboard or controller, but are best used with a steering wheel and pedals.

AMERICAN TRUCK SIMULATOR
ATS

Also made my SCS, this 2nd offering is based entirely in the US, although additional maps are becoming available for Canada, and South America. It differs from ETS2 in the style of vehicles used, resembling the much larger bodywork typical of American Trucks.

ETS2 and ATS are made by the same company, and utilise a common online world which shares profiles, scores, and the 'Mods' available are sometimes suitable for both programs.

ETS 2 or ATS - Which is best?

That depends entirely on the user and where they wish to explore!
