FEMALE SAFETY IDEAS

Living away from the big major cities we easily become complacent about our safety, But big city style crimes against women can and do happen, and we should be just as observant and take the same precautions.

Domestic Abuse; Rape; Date Rape; Mugging; Knife crime; Car-Jacking;  these are now happening everywhere.

I have put together a collection of links to videos which may help our awareness and help to ensure your safety.

Secret Hand Signal asking for help.

With an increase in Domestic Abuse caused by the lockdown and the inability of reaching out to others when the abuser is always present, there is a new method of secretly asking others for help if you are victim to abuse or Domestic Violence. Initiated in Canada, it is slowing spreading around the world. If you see this hand signal then discreetly find a way to take the person aside to a place of safety, where contact can be made with the authorities or help organizations.

Teach others and make sure tha everyone knows this sign!

MOBILE PHONE SAFETY TIP

Going hiking?  Going out alone?  Car broken down?
This tip could save your life!

If you ever get lost when out rambling or hiking, or your car breaks down in a deserted area, and your mobile phone is running low on power, quickly record a 'Voicemail' to a message that gives the time, your location, and information about your predicament. and also what your intentions are, e.g. 'I am walking towards the town", or  "I am staying with the car!" and request help.

Even if your phone battery dies, the voicemail message will be heard by whoever rings your number, and will know where to find you or where to send help.

If you are at a club or bar and are fearing for your safety, go to the bar and ask for Angela. Staff will help you to discreetly slip away.
